I'm pretty sure no one reads anything on DA anymore, but I have a workflow (if that's the right terminology?) question for iPad users who also use PC. Google has been failing me.

I have an iPad Pro with Procreate but I don't have my own Apple ID. The Apple ID is my dad's and all the art programs like Procreate are also ones he purchased, which are non-transferable to another ID unless I... buy them all over again. I know saving things saves stuff to the iCloud but I'd rather not have all that easily accessible to him or others since that Apple ID is shared amongst multiple devices (niblings/siblings) and the iCloud can be viewed by anyone. I know I can save stuff to Google Drive with my Google account, but same issue in that my dad still sometimes borrows this iPad and I don't want him to have full access to my Google Drive because of personal stuff on there. Dropbox is an option, but the storage caps have me wanting to look elsewhere if possible.

So what's a good workflow to save/transfer/have backups from iPad to my PC while keeping my images and files secure, while also utilizing the programs on an Apple ID that's not mine? I'm completely clueless about Apple stuff, and this issue is one of the big reasons I haven't utilized Procreate much.

Look, I don't really know why everyone abandoned DA anyway.

Was there something wrong with this site that I just happened to miss? This place always seemed aight to me! But I think I fell out of the loop during the Great Exodus when I was on hiatus.

Ugh.

2 min read
A series of unfortunate timings.

Had to factory reset my phone for an update, which means I transferred all files to my PC in the meantime. Only days later my PSU died and took out all my PC harddrives and solid state drive with it. For some reason, even though I ran Windows backup every day, no backup images of my main drive could be found. I lost everything.

I got hit with a lot of art finishing/posting anxiety around October of last year. Just didn't feel a drive to finish anything, and the thought of anyone seeing anything I was working on was making me shutdown. So I lost almost a years worth of WIPs. I lost a lot of concepts that I'll never remember, never have the energy to remake. I lost all my photos that I took on my phone over the past year and a half. I lost all of my Photoshop brushes. Some of the things that I've uploaded here only exist now in their .png resized forms because the original .psd is gone.

Just feeling kind of deflated right now. I know DeviantArt is pretty dead now, but I just want people to know why you may not be seeing us much for a long while. We have a hard time rebuilding things and recovery in general, so to push past these multiple mental roadblocks is going to take more time than usual. Hope you understand.

My hiatus was a longer duration than the years I spent actually doing art.

So don't expect much.
